Okay, today was a big day… I finally ran the entire distance around Glenmore Reservoir! Woooowhoo!!! Now, the distance is shorter than what I have done in the past but the terrain was up and down with a few real tough hills (it was also warm out.)
I was so pleased that the sun was shining, my ankle was all worked out (had been tight) and I felt like it was a day for a good run. There were a ton of people on the trail by the time I got on it. Saw lots of bikers, runners, walkers, dogs, skateboarders, roller bladers – everyone wanted to enjoy the sun. I was, however, astonished that this family was walking with their kid (who was on a scooter) with no helmet? It may not have startled me so much, but I met them as I was coming up a really long, steep hill and they were coming down. It struck me as… well… dumb… and unnecessary.
The run was a good one. There were definitely moments when I wanted to quit (namely at the base of one of the hills) but at the exact moment I wanted to throw in the towel, a guy came up behind me and said, “Hey….. you are doing great…. keep going..” And that was all I needed. I kept replaying that over and over and managed to just keep going. By the end of the run it was quite warm and I knew I had a sweet sunburn. Next time I will remember sunscreen!
Anyway, I was super proud of myself and I had a few personal bests:
- Largest elevation climb
- Furthest distance in a week
- Longest duration in a week
- Most calories burned
And here are my stats:
