Tonight I was chanting “We’re #1, we’re #1” as I ran. It’s all because I got the Record in the mail today and learned that MTA (my alma mater) was ranked #1 undergraduate university in Canada for the 16th time – YAHOO!!!!! My old stomping grounds… And seriously, check out the Harry Potter doppelgängers – how could that not put a smile on your face?
So anyway, I wouldn’t say I’m feeling 100% yet. My run was a good one (strong) but it took a lot of effort to lift my feet and pump my arms. And I can’t get over how much ice is on the sidewalks still – so slippery!
I had a few really tough hills to get through but managed alright. I have a bit of an issue though, my new sneakers are pinching my baby toes too much! It’s been a while since I bought a new pair of sneaks so I forget how long it takes to get them worked in. I’m afraid that I’ll do some permanent damage if I continue to run despite aches and pains in my feet/shins. Does anyone out there know what I should do? Should I try another sneaker? Or keep going?
That’s it. Tomorrow night is a wedgie run after we register for BAM! Woot!
- Distance: 6.75km
- Time: 43:22
- Pace: 6:26
- Best Pace: 4:42
er…Gramma’s brain can’t remember what the conventional wisdom used to be (back in the stone age), but I usually kept my distance pretty short for the first 5 or 6 runs then gradually lengthen (NOT paying attention to that is why I’m currently laid up with a sore knee, partially)
Okay – that’s good then. I mean it gives me hope that it may just be that I’m doing too much in them off the bat. I can barely remember what I did yesterday!
