The long distance run that did not happen.

stomach virusWell, today was supposed to be a 19km run and well, at 1:00 a.m. this morning I started seeing symptoms of stomach virus (chills, achey, queasy stomach.) By 1:15 I was in the middle of vomiting and everything that comes with a virus. It wasn’t pretty, but there was a show on TV about little kids with illness and in my delirious state I watched and wouldn’t let myself complain. I was busy running back and forth to the bathroom, but I managed to watch the entire SATC marathon – AWESOME!

Anyway, around 1:00 p.m. today I managed to keep PowerAde down; and to my great relief, I also managed to keep the gravol down as well – only waking at 5:00 p.m. So now everything is in the wash, I’ve bleached everything I could and I’m sitting upright for the first time since yesterday – YAHOO!

Needless to say, the 19km run did not happen today. I’m trying to decide how I’ll shape my training week. I am just grateful that it was a 24-hour deal!

The silver lining is that I lost 5lbs. Yeah. I know. It’s just water. And realistically I don’t care that much but it’s pretty interesting to lose so much fluid within such a short period of time.

Hope everyone is happy & healthy out there!

  1. Ouch! Sorry to hear you had to spend the weekend like that, but hey! At least you’re feeling better now?! Hope the coming week will treat you well! You’ll definitely get those 19km done another day πŸ™‚

    • I am finally vertical, so that’s a good sign! I wouldn’t wish this on my worst enemy!!!!! Thank you for you well wishes… apparently I have to wait 2-3 days before exercising again. I am chomping at the bit already! πŸ™‚

  2. I hope you feel better soon πŸ™‚

  4. That is horrible, you poor girl. Nothing, and I mean nothing is worse than a stomach bug, blah. Can’t wait to hear you smash out your 19km! That is a HUGE number!

  5. Hope you’re feeling better!
