“It’s very hard in the beginning to understand that the whole idea is not to beat the other runners. Eventually you learn that the competition is against the little voice inside you that wants you to quit.” – George Sheehan

Tomorrow I start my half-marathon training with a bit of cross-training. Anyone who knows me, knows that I have the attention span of a hummingbird; flitting around and always going in a million directions. Lucky for me, I’ve found a great tool online and an app for my iPhone that helps me keep track of my CT. I’ve never been adept at weight training or spicing things up at the gym, so this little tool will guide me through the mucky stuff I’ve never bothered with before. My personal favourite for running is the Personal Running Trainer. You have the option of choosing which distance you do, with coaching voice-over of your own music. I love it! I’ve also thought about using the Navy SEAL fitness app, but haven’t had the chance to download it – I guess there’s no better time than now! I’ll let you know what I think of it and if it helped me at all. In the meantime, click this link for the Livestrong website offering some good info about staying healthy and fit. On a different note, if any of you out there have some interesting CT workouts, websites of other info you would like to share, send me a note!
