I love this quote by three-time winner of the New York City marathon, Alberto Salazar. I remember my first relay race. I ran leg 3 of the Cabot Trail Relay . I trained hard; spent late nights running after work and passed up social gatherings to prepare (which is harder said than done at 20 years old.) It’s difficult to express how nervous and excited I was that morning. My stomach turned and gurgled but I knew I could run it; my goal was to finish. And with total elation, I crossed the finish-line. I wasn’t even last!
